Except for “Basic Arithmetic” every math class and SAT, CBEST, and other examinations requires a basic
understanding of math fundamentals that are essential for a student in order to succeed in the above
classes and exams.
Yet, I am shocked that most students seeking math tutoring lack basic understanding of the above
math fundamentals such as addition/subtractions of fractions, exponents and basic factoring skills.
The above problem is not only limited to Elementary, Middle and High Schoolers but also widespread among college
students and people taking ACT, SAT, CBEST and other math related examinations.
Unfortunately, with the advance of technology and better gadgetry such as calculators, smart phones and computers,
some of us have decided to give our brains an extended vacation from critical thinking.

- Review basic math fundamentals that directly applies to the students’ current math class or exam.

or exam through simple examples, sketches and graphic illustrations that the student can relate

- Use the above 2 steps above to solve questions and word problems that are directly related to the test
and exam the student is expected to pass.
- Have the student get a hands-on training in solving the above questions on their own while giving them
subtle help as they get stuck.
- Give the student a couple of the above questions for homework so you can review it in the next
